As vacation season arrives and the kids are out of school, there are some wonderful mini-vacation ideas right here in our own backyard.

- The Memphis Zoo! When is the last time you took a personal trip, or family trip to the Memphis Zoo? Did you know it's rated as one of the top zoos in the entire nation? - Or if Memphis is a bit too far from home and you want to see some exotic animals right up the road...check out Tennessee Safari Park! The park, located on highway 412 in Crockett County, boasts 400 animals & 80 different species, from a spider monkey to a red kangaroo, zebras, camels, and a giraffe! - Explore Tennessee's rich American Indian history at Pinson Mounds State Park. The park features a wonderful museum amid 15 earthen mounds. The park also has six miles of walking trails including a rest area overlooking the Forked Deer River. Visit their website here for details.

- Museum trips! There are several museums & other attractions in the region that can offer a wide variety of history, knowledge, and wonderment!
