Good 'n' Fun Beefhide Chicken Stick treats are being recalled after the confirmed presence of salmonella. The recalled product has a UPC code of 091093822471, item number 82247 and is the 2.8 oz. size of beefhide chicken sticks with expiration dates of 2/2018 through 7/2018. The product was distributed nationwide to Dollar General, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores.
Customers should dispose of the product or return for a refund. You may also call the product's company, Salix, at 1-800-228-4896 Monday-Friday 7:30-4:00 central for a refund.
Salmonella can affect animals who eat contaminated products and there is a potential risk to humans if they come in contact with Salmonella from handling contaminated products.
Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some, or all, of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.
Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected, but otherwise healthy, pets can be carriers of Salmonella and infect other animals or humans.
