Over 200 workers floored by local closure announcement

August 7, 2017

Armstrong Flooring will be closing its Jackson plant later this year, leaving 215 employees out of work.

Company officials blamed consumer demand for wider width hardwood flooring planks for the decision. Jackson's facility is only equipped to produce 2" to 3" wide flooring planks, and consumer demand for boards of those sizes has diminished.

Local company representatives said discussions about severance packages will occur on an individual basis, and employees willing to relocate will be invited to apply at other Armstrong locations.
