40 million fire extinguishers recalled after 1 death, 16 injuries, 91 damages to property. Is one in your home?

November 3, 2017

Approximately 40 million fire extinguishers, manufactured under the popular Kidde brand, are being recalled after 1 death, 16 injuries, and 91 property damage incidents allegedly occurred due to a failure of the device.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says this massive recall affects extinguishers produced as early as 1973, and as recent as August of 2017. The plastic handled extinguishers appear to be the primary problem. For more information about the recall, click here.

Kidde is offering full replacement of the potentially dangerous extinguishers, sending consumers a new one with instructions for returning the questionable devices included in the shipment. Click here for info regarding which models qualify and how to request a replacement.
