Court decides $85,000 owed to 52 year old man who lost his job to a younger employee

A 52 year old production foreman with over 20 years of industry experience was pushed out of his job, according to an age discrimination suit filed by the EEOC, because of his age by a young superintendent. The 52 year old, according to the suit, was considered “very knowledgeable” by the workers he supervised. The suit was brought against Atlas Energy Group LLC by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).


In addition to paying the $85,000 in monetary relief to the man, the decree instructs Atlas Energy Group to avoid engaging in age discrimination in the future, requires them to provide training on age discrimination to its staff, post a notice of employee rights under the ADEA, as well as report future complaints of age discrimination to the EEOC.
